Background
Alexandra Horquin is a designer of language-learning content, an author and a trainer, specialising in French as a foreign language (FLE) and language didactics. She holds a master's in language didactics and interculturality from Université Paris-Descartes and a second master's in economics and psychology.
She built her teaching career at prestigious institutions, including Sorbonne Université, the Alliance française, the Institut Catholique (ILCF) and ISCOM Paris, where she designed and delivered general and specialised courses for multicultural audiences. That classroom experience gave her a concrete understanding of what actually happens in a lesson and a fine-grained sense of what learners need.
Since 2017 she has worked with major international publishers, including EMDL, Didier and Ellipses, designing learning modules aligned with the CEFR, writing DELF-style assessments, and authoring the whole of En scène FLE: Cahier de révisions. She also runs trainer-training internationally, in Paris, Barcelona, Beirut and Amsterdam, on spoken production and the integration of digital tools. Since 2025 she has worked with Ekinox / Digital Lab on a French-revision application that builds in AI adapted to individual learners' needs.
Her experience with Indian learners, through FLE classes and through theatre and improvisation workshops, gave her a precise sense of the pedagogical and cultural profile involved: the influence of English on learning French, the need for structured frameworks and explicit instructions, and a reluctance to speak aloud for fear of making a mistake. An actress and improviser herself, she draws naturally on performance and role play in her teaching, building confidence and communication skills as a result.
As head of ESIP's Language Studio, Alexandra Horquin designs and runs the language pathways that prepare each student to succeed on a French campus and to work in international professional settings. Her approach is learner-centred, built on personalised follow-up, intercultural immersion and the use of digital tools to develop genuine professional command of French, English, Hindi and Tamil.
